NEWBURY PARK HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL MUSIC

Concert Choir is a large, select mixed choir that learns and performs medium to difficult level choral music of varying styles throughout the school year. The newest performing ensemble at NPHS, the Women's Ensemble, performs traditional treble choir music and some women's barbershop. Performance venues are not only at Newbury Park High School, but also at other sites both locally and throughout the country. The NPHS Panther Chamber Singers is an elite performing choir of 20-30 singers, chosen by audition from the ranks of the Concert Choir and Women's Ensemble. The Chamber Singers perform throughout the year for school and local community events.

All three performance ensembles also sing in adjudicated festivals sponsored by the American Choral Director's Association and the Southern California Vocal Association. Last Spring, they traveled to New York City for a four day festival where our 90+ Women's Ensemble, Concert Choir and Chamber singers participated in a weekend of fun and exciting competition, including site seeing and lots of attractions. Both the Chamber Singers and the Concert Choir received First Place Gold ratings (90% or above) at this festival. Our first-year Women's Ensemble received a Silver rating; a very impressive accomplishment for a first-year ensemble.

This year, they will travel to San Francisco in April to participate in the prestigious Heritage Festival. At this event they will work with some of the most highly regarded adjudicators and clinicians in the country.
